Salisbury Man Airlifted To Hospital After Crash With Tractor-Trailer In Rowley

Police are investigating a serious crash in Essex County that sent a motorcyclist to the hospital, officials say.

A tractor-trailer crashed into a motorcycle in Rowley near the intersection of Route 1 and Route 133 on Thursday, July 20 around 5:51 a.m., resulting in injuries for the Salisbury motorcyclist, according to the Rowley Police Department.

The motorcycle and the tractor-trailer were both heading south on Newburyport Turnpike (Route 1) when the tractor-trailer attempted to turn left onto Haverhill Street (Route 133) and crashed into the motorcycle, inflicting "significant damage."

The 64-year-old motorcyclist was taken via medical helicopter to a Boston hospital. The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 25-year-old Rowley man, said he was uninjured. 

The crash caused traffic delays in the area, according to MassDOT.

The crash remains under investigation by Rowley police.
